Periodontist
What is a Periodontist?
A Periodontist is a dental professional focused on preventing, diagnosing, and treatment of diseases that affect the gums and other structures that support the teeth. After completing dental school, they attend a three-year post-graduate program for Periodontology.
What does a Periodontist do?
Most commonly, Periodontists treat severe periodontal or gum disease with minor surgery and use lasers or gum grafting techniques to restore the appearance of a smile, and even place dental implants in the jaw when a tooth cannot be saved.
Periodontists also use various techniques to remodel soft tissue and even reshape bone in the jaw.
